Thought a 'normal 600k' was too easy?  Thought Ohio is flat?  Well, welcome to the crazy world of the 8k600k.

600km.  More than 26,000 feet of climbing.  Still only 40 hours to do it.
Successful completion is a step towards your Randonneur 10,000 award.

Route is approved!  Some possible tweaks if ODOT or local engineers decide to yank out a bridge or something, as they apparently love doing to us.

MOSTLY UNSUPPORTED RIDE: don't expect even the semi-customary meet-and-greet at controls.

Note: official elevation calculation is via OpenRunner - current route is 8,218m / 26,965 ft of climbing: openrunner

Route, cue, and brevet card now FINAL.

    Route link here.

Cue sheet here.  Please print and bring with you.  Suggested even for those using those new-fangled gps thingys.

Brevet card here.  Please print and bring with you if using.  As usual, backup options to a gps trace such as timestamped photos or a brevet card are recommended.

PRE-Ride Dinner - planning on 6:00pm Friday @ The Old Market House around 6:00 on Friday. Please let Josh know if you can make it.

    Route notes:

    • As of 9/17, there are a few 'road closed' sections: all remain bike-able.  Proceed with caution.
    • At 115 miles, road closed due to wash out.  The right hand side is rideable.  Don't take the bridge at the bottom too quickly:  you need to dismount to cross gravel and RR tracks.  Keep to the left on the way back.
    • Between 282 and 295 miles, you're on Waterford Rd / C 4 - follow signs accordingly.  If you end up on gravel, you've gone wrong.
    • A mile 299, use the sidewalk to cross the bridge into West Virginia
    • WV control is no longer open 24 hours.  Open 7a-11p.  Plan food accordingly.  Marietta, OH is best option for re-supply outside of these hours (298 / 313 mi)

Recommed using the 4 RideWithGPS routes for GPS Nav:
